Invisalign® Provider in NW Calgary (16th Avenue Dental)
What Is Invisalign®?
The clear alternative to traditional braces.
If you’re looking to straighten your teeth but hate the thought of wire braces, then Invisalign® may be for you. Straightening your teeth has never been easier! Invisalign® uses a series of custom-made, clear aligners to gently guide your teeth into the perfect position. It is a clinically proven alternative to braces, with most patients typically achieve stable, predictable results in 6 to 18 months, depending on the complexity of their case. Clear aligners help fix:
At 16th Avenue Dental, we focus on more than just looks—we prioritize your long-term oral health. Conveniently located in NW Calgary (serving Mount Pleasant, Tuxedo Park, and SAIT), we provide doctor-led treatment to ensure your results are safe and predictable. No hidden fees, no shortcuts—just expert care from a local team you trust.
How Is Invisalign® Different?
Discreet, comfortable, and removable.
Invisalign® invisible braces straighten mild to moderate misalignment just as well as traditional braces, but differ in all the right ways:
Have an important meeting or photo? Invisalign® is nearly invisible but also removable for big events.
Invisalign® is made from a smooth, clear resin material. It won’t irritate the inside of your mouth like metal braces.
Clear aligners are removable for eating and hygiene, giving you the freedom to enjoy your favorite foods.
Remove your plastic trays to brush and floss more comfortably and keep your teeth cleaner and fresher.
The Invisalign® Process on 16th Avenue: From Impression to Smile
The clear alternative to traditional braces.
- The Consultation: We assess your bite alignment, gum health, and aesthetic goals to ensure you are a safe candidate for clear aligners before we begin.
- The Impression: We take a series of impressions of your teeth to build your custom treatment plan.
- The Setup: You receive your first sets of aligners. At this stage, we may place small, tooth-colored “buttons” (attachments) on specific teeth. These temporary anchor points allow the aligners to apply the precise force needed for complex movements.
- The Transformation: You wear your aligners for 20–22 hours a day, switching to a new set every 1–2 weeks. You will visit our clinic approximately every 6–8 weeks for a quick check-up so we can monitor your tracking.
- Retention: Once your active treatment is complete, we provide you with custom retainers. Wearing these at night is the most important step to ensure your new smile stays perfect for a lifetime.
Why Choose 16th Avenue Dental for Invisalign?

Find Out If You’re a Candidate
Before choosing Invisalign® for your orthodontic treatment, our NW Calgary dentist conducts a thorough examination to determine if clear aligners are right for you.
If Invisalign® isn’t the right fit, we’ll discuss an alternative treatment that best meets your needs. Please contact our team, and we’ll answer any questions you may have about orthodontics or our other dental services.
For Adults: The "Professional" Choice
Ideal for professionals in downtown Calgary or students at U of C/SAIT who want to improve their smile without the “high school look” of metal braces. You can remove them for client meetings or presentations if absolutely necessary.
For Teens: Balancing Freedom with Responsibility
Invisalign Teen® features “compliance indicators” (blue dots that fade with wear) so parents know if the aligners are being worn enough. It’s a great option for active teens involved in sports where metal brackets might cause injury.
Dental Conditions That May NOT Be Suitable
- Bridgework: Bridges connect teeth, making them impossible to move individually.
- Short Clinical Crowns: Teeth that are very short may not provide enough “grip” for the aligner.
When We Recommend Braces Instead (Honest Advice)
If your case involves complex vertical movements (pulling a tooth down) or severe rotation, traditional braces might be faster and cheaper. If Dr. Le believes braces will give you a better result than Invisalign, she will tell you honestly during the consultation. We treat patients, not customers.

Frequently Asked Quetions
-
Who is a good candidate for Invisalign?
The best candidates for Invisalign are adults and responsible teens with mild to moderate crowding, spacing, or bite issues. Candidates must have healthy gums (no active periodontal disease) and be disciplined enough to wear their aligners for 20–22 hours every day. It is ideal for patients who want a discreet, removable option for professional or social reasons.
-
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
Most Invisalign treatments take between 6 and 18 months to complete, depending on the complexity of your case. Simple cosmetic straightening can sometimes be done in as little as 6 months, while complex bite corrections may take up to 24 months. You will typically begin seeing noticeable improvements in your smile within the first 3 months of wearing your aligners.
-
What is the Invisalign wear-time / 30-minute rule?
You must wear your Invisalign aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day for the treatment to work. The “30-minute rule” is a helpful guideline suggesting you should not leave your aligners out for more than 30 minutes at a time (e.g., for a meal) to prevent teeth from shifting back. Consistently leaving them out for longer periods can cause your teeth to stop “tracking” with the plan.
-
Can my insurance help cover Invisalign in Calgary?
Yes, many private dental insurance plans in Alberta cover Invisalign under “Orthodontic” procedures. While the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) does not currently cover orthodontics, we can direct bill your private insurance to reduce your immediate out-of-pocket costs. Please contact us for more information regarding your specific coverage limits.

Why might a dentist not recommend Invisalign?
A dentist may recommend traditional braces over Invisalign for complex cases involving severe bite issues, vertical tooth movement, or rotated cylindrical teeth. Additionally, Invisalign requires strict patient compliance; if a patient cannot commit to wearing aligners for 22 hours a day, fixed braces are often the safer, more effective choice to ensure the treatment actually works.
